Mölkerbastei and Poesie für das Album use material from two earlier works associated with Beethoven and Schumann – first movement of my Cello Sonata (“Hours with the Masters”) and second movement of my Piano Quintet (“Homage to Schumann”). Ballade uses material from a song by Carl Löwe, and Im Sommer 1836 takes its material from two preludes by Chopin.
