Two Miniature Dance Portraits (2016)

'Final Slow Fox' is a slightly irreverent memorial to Peter Maxwell Davies, with whom I studied briefly in the summer of 1976, referencing his obsession the foxtrot. I'm sure he wouldn't have minded. I wrote the second piece on Horacio Salgan's 100th birthday, though sadly he died the same year. I saw him playing in the most elegant of tango clubs (no dancing) in Buenos Aires, when I was on a concert tour there in 2001, and it remains one of the most memorable concert experiences of my life.
