Sviatoslav Richter, a piano giant of the 20th century, was a great interpreter of Schubert but also Scriabin. I was intrigued by the fact that their lives overlapped just 39 days in March and April 1915, Scriabin dying in Moscow, Richter born in the Ukraine. I dreamed up something virtuosic that the composer might have written for Richter.
