Postcards from South Africa had its genesis in the South African Post Office: Stephen Gray sent me a postcard in December 2019 and I received it six months; the next postcard he sent took only three months. We agreed the postal service was definitely improving. So this piece, using Bartók's 'Increasing-Diminishing' from 'Mikrokosmos' as its starting-point, sees a move from semibreves to minims to crotchets etc and back again.
