Programme note
Variations on a Flute Tune harmonises an unaccompanied flute tune from the Ituri Rain Forest by Katsuba Mwongolo, and then reverses the hands so the tune is in the left and the harmonies in the right. Then two variations are added: a faster variations in quavers which embellished the tune, and a slower one in ¾ time which pares down the tune.
