Programme note
I started sketching this piece when I read about the death of the Palestinian poet Refaat Alareer in Gaza in December 2023 in an Israeli attack. I was constantly troubled by the ongoing massacre and it took me about a year to settle on a final form for the music. During that time thousands and eventually tens of thousands of innocent Palestinian children, women, and men were killed by Israeli fire.
